José Bedia

(b. 1959, La Habana, Cuba) José Bedia was formed as an artist at the “Casa de la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro”, La Habana and graduated with a degree in Art from the “Instituto Superior de Arte” also in La Habana, Cuba. Bedia is one of the most influential Latin American artists of his generation. His installations and impeccable technique mix traditional African and Indigenous Latin American artistic practices. He first started to exhibit in a series of collectives of Cuban artists. His work is part of numerous important international collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, USA; Tate Gallery, London, UK and the MoMA in New York, USA. Bedia has also had various individual and collective shows, like “Los novísimos cubanos. Grupo I” at The Signs Gallery, NYC, USA.
